HITT expands Port Management System Flushing and Terneuzen
May 27, 2008. HITT Traffic will expand its Port Management System, installed at Zeeland Seaports in 2007, with the Enterprise Service Bus (ESB). With this latest technological expansion the ports of Flushing and Terneuzen can automatically exchange information with agents, pilots and traffic management systems. This will lead to faster and more efficient cargo handling. With this state-of-the-art system, the Zeeland ports can now measure up to the most advanced ports in the world with regard to the organisation, planning and handling of cargo and are now equipped for additional future expansion. HITT also provided the ports of Amsterdam and Shanghai with similar systems.

Investment in Efficiency

The investment in the port management system, including the ESB expansion, now totals some 2,5 million euro and provides a new impulse to the efficiency of the ports. About 250 companies are operational there, forming the economic driving force in the region. This system also improves the safety of the ports, enhances compliance with port regulations and saves costs for all parties operating within the system. The Enterprise Service Bus is integrated in HITT Traffic’s product KleinPort Gateway. Through the KleinPort Gateway the following electronic messages are processed in the Port Management System:

  • BERMAN - reports on moorings
  • IFTDGN - registration of hazardous substances
  • WASDIS - reports on waste materials CUSCAR - registration of port fees
  • APERAK - confirmation of incoming messages to several parties
  • IVS'90 - administration of ships, cargos and routes in the Netherlands
  • SafeSeaNet (SSN) - live exchange of ships' movements with neighbouring countries in the EU
